0 0RICHMOND IMPROV FESTIVAL hijacks the Downtown Arts Scene

Comedians from all over the East Coast are descending on Richmond for 3 nights of SERIOUS improv comedy. The 2009 Richmond Improv Festival will showcase improv groups from 9 different cities. Hosted by ComedySportz Improv Theatre, Richmond’s longest‐running improv comedy show, and sponsored by the Richmond Jaycees, the 2nd annual comedy event features 3 nights of live performances, improv workshops, and networking events for performers. The RIF runs from November 5 - 7, 2009 at the Capital Ale House, 623 E Main St and CenterStage Rhythm Hall, 600 E Grace St.
The Richmond Improv Festival is produced for the ComedySportz Improv Theatre by Zach Ward (NC Comedy Arts Festival, Toronto Improv Festival, Chicago Improv Festival) to showcase the improv talents of the world to Richmond improvisers and to expose more of the River City to the improv talent working in Richmond.
The 3 nights of performances will feature 20 Acts over 8 shows at Capital Ale House (Thursday) and Richmond CenterStage Rhythm Hall, (Friday and Saturday). Each show features a host and 3 or 4 acts performing sets of improvisation. The acts appearing represent Top Richmond talent and some of the best working improv teams the national comedy scene has to offer. Some of the acts scheduled to appear are: Full Contact (Richmond), Dr Fantastic (Washington, DC), Road Trip (Carrboro, NC), Einstein Meets Elvis (Altanta), iProv (Richmond), Superbest (Washington, DC) and of course local improv favorites ComedySportz.
